I started this Blog way back in 2008. I kept it up, more or less, for around three years, then let it go.. I thought it might be confined to the Great Dustbin-in-the-Sky by now but the didn’t happen, and here it is - minus a few pictures.

Re-reading these blogs is a bit toe-curling in places but recent events have made me realise that it could actually be a useful sounding-board, not just for me, but also for a wide group of friends and others affected by current and future affairs.
The main catalyst has been Brexit. This political and social earthquake has already affected ‘Brits-in-france’ and French nationals alike, and it has only just started…..
So, perhaps this blog could serve a useful purpose - an information exchange on topical events, particularly Brexit, for British National residents here.
Concurrently, I was recently invited by the mayor of Argentat, Jean-Claude Leygnac, to actively participate in the daily life and future management of our commune, by including me on his list of potential town-councillors, to stand in the municipal elections next month (15 and 22 March). I’m very happy to have accepted the invitation and I’m now getting involved in the detailed preparations for this event.
We are "Ensemble, Allons Plus Loin",- "Together, let's go further".
Not to be confused with a rival list, "Ensemble Autrement", which translates rather awkwardly into "Together Otherwise".
The voting system is almost totally alien in form to British-born Nationals. This could be a topic for discussion and comment through this blog for example.
And, back to the dreaded Brexit, here's a link to be getting on with....
This excellent French Government website, available in English, will keep British Nationals informed of their residential rights and more, as well as relevant information regarding the documentation required as the negotiations between out two countries advances (or not) during the coming months.

La relecture de ces blogs est un peu curieuse par endroits, mais les événements récents m'ont fait réaliser que cela pourrait en fait être une table de résonance utile, non seulement pour moi, mais aussi pour un large groupe d'amis et d'autres personnes touchées par les affaires futures.

Donc, ce blog pourrait peut-être servir un objectif utile - un échange d'informations sur des événements d'actualité, en particulier le Brexit, pour les résidents du Royaume-Uni ici.

Le système de vote est presque totalement étranger aux ressortissants nés en Grande-Bretagne. Cela pourrait être un sujet de discussion et de commentaires à travers ce blog par exemple.

Cet excellent site Web du gouvernement français, disponible en anglais, tiendra les ressortissants britanniques informés de leurs droits de résidence et plus encore, ainsi que des informations pertinentes concernant la documentation requise à mesure que les négociations entre les deux pays progressent (ou non) au cours des prochains mois.
